このプロジェクトはSyoyorollの創設者Vince Quituguaと、1997年から長年にわたりブラジリアン柔術をライフワークの一環として取り入れているネペンテスのディレクター青柳徳郎との交流から生まれたものです。
柔術がアメリカ、日本へと伝播し、総合格闘技の中で鮮やかに頭角を表して世界を驚かせた90年代から2000年代、Vince Quituguaと青柳徳郎の両者に大きな影響を与えた初期柔術の輝きをコンセプトに、カプセルコレクションを制作。
ネペンテスを象徴するパープルカラーやタイダイなどのモチーフと、両ブランドのアイコニックなロゴを組み合わせたアレンジメントで、大胆かつ洗練されたコレクションに仕上がっています。
そのコンセプトとは裏腹にウェアのデザインは非常に現代的で、モダン競技柔術での機能性を最優先に意識され、練習や試合での実用性が最大限に引き出されています。

This project started from a long friendship between Shoyoroll founder Vince Quitugua and Nepenthes director Tokuro Aoyagi, who has been immersed in jiu-jitsu as part of his life’s work since 1997. Over the years, through different projects and shared ideas, it felt inevitable that the two brands would eventually come together.
The capsule is rooted in the early days of jiu-jitsu, a period that deeply shaped both Vince and Tokuro during the 1990s and 2000s, when jiu-jitsu was exploding in the U.S. and Japan and beginning to change the landscape of mixed martial arts worldwide.
The collection blends Nepenthes’ signature purple and tie-dye language with the core symbols of both brands. It is bold, but still restrained. Graphic, but considered.
While the inspiration comes from the past, the product is built for right now. The cuts, materials, and construction are designed for modern competitive jiu-jitsu, with a focus on function first, both in training and in competition.
